Under the cellar tab in settings my phone showed a primary number and secondary number labeled “work” but the number was the same exact phone number. It also had an option to add another eSIM so I’m a little confused. Any idea why this would show up like that?

It is impossible to have two Phone numbers against two IMEI on your Phone.
What you may be looking at is the Label "Work", "Home", "Personal"

Ok so I hit something and it “merged contacts” or something like that apparently but I still would like your insight.
On the image below in cellular section, in the Verizon section it showed primary (***) ***-9018, and then option to turn it line on and off. And below that it showed “secondary” “work” with the same exact phone number. It was like it had a dual sim but the number was the same. And it still showed an option to add and e sim like it does in the image.
if you clicked “turn off this line” the screen on the below image popped up, and below “primary” there was “secondary - work” which you could turn off and on.
any idea what that was? Did the phone used to have a second sim or something?
I found this image on the Verizon dual sim label page, this is exactly what it looked like however both phone numbers were the same?
