After a software update, my screen has a shadow box to the left of the screen about 1.5-2” wide. There is flickering and the color seems off. Laptop hasn’t been dropped, wet or any physical damage. The color issue doesn’t appear in screen shots.

You have done some great troubleshooting. Since the issue does not appear in the screenshots, this means the laptop's display has a hardware issue and will need to be repaired. Have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate.
