SOS means that your phone has lost the connection to your cellular network provider. This is often caused by a temporary outage or "blip" at your carrier.

A few weeks ago, a major U.S. carrier had a massive outage on their network, which affected millions of users. It happens.

You don't indicate whether the phone is still displaying SOS or it has returned to normal.

If it is still displaying SOS you will need to use another phone to contact your carrier so they can check things from their end of the network.
