Cannot View Video Downloaded from Google Drive.

I’ve tried to download a video a friend shared to me to my iPhone and when I went to view it, there was no visual at all. The audio was playing but had no picture at all. It’s a 4K video and I don’t know if that has anything to do with it but would it be possible to download it in a lower resolution?

Has the movie been in Google Photos?

Google force-feeds its VP9 video codec to users. Google Photos has "Original quality" and "Storage saver" settings. The latter option was recently "updated" to convert downloaded movies to Google's VP9 codec which is incompatible with QuickTime Player (a workaround is to use IINA or VLC etc).
