How to safely delete old iPhone backup without losing data on new iPhone and iCloud

Trying to free up my storage. I clicked on back up and it has IPhone 4 15.9 GB

iphone this phone it has 13.5GB

so IPhone 4 is my old iPhone can I delete it from the cloud and save space or will it remove all data and even my new iPhone that is backed up today. I’m so confused on this because I’m paying for more storage and I don’t think I need to if I freed up almost 16 GB from my old phone. Is apple trying to rip me off?

If you no longer need the backup of your old device, delete it

I think I'm having a similar situation. I assume you see this backup when you look at it on the new phone? iPhone 4 is pretty darn old, are you sure it is a 4? Or maybe that backup is really from a very old 4. I got a new phone (iPhone 14) yesterday and the backup I see has my new phone is the name of my old phone (iPhone 12 backup).
