Consumer report stated that fast charging should not be used routinely because it was not good for the long health of your battery. When I purchased my phone I was told the opposite.

If your device supports fast charging then you don't worry about battery health. please check with iphone supportive accessories. every iphone charger come with handshake method when phone charged fully it will stop automatically. battery health will affect upon usage and number of cycle
Keep in-mind that the actual “charge controller” is built-in to the individual device and is optimised for the specifically-installed battery.
If you don’t trust the design engineers, feel free to use a 5w power adaptor; certainly no harm will come of it.
