FIles App keeps crashing

It has been now over a year that I began having problems with the files app which seems to be a terrible function that apple can't seem to fix. Every time I open the app, start to do work, writing on documents for feedback, marking, etc. the app suddenly crashes and what I have done gets lost. I figured I would move along and keep up with technology but not having to kills trees in the process but seems like old school is still the best way to go. Having said that...frustration, anger, and annoyance that apple makes us dependent on their products, let's see if someone can help since apple workers aren't such "genius" with this as no one in store or out can help...but...

Has anyone else found a way to be able to open files into other apps that are not apple created? I am tired that there is a process to do just that and saving them doesn't really keep them in the right place when I use PDF Reader. Any suggestions, tips, or help anyone can provide? Maybe there is a real apple Genius...somewhere?

ALSO, iPad pro is the latest one, and the system is up to date.
