How do I insert a table that flows across multiple pages?

By default, an inserted table does just that in a word processing layout Pages document as the rows exceed the page size. If you change the object placement to stay on page, or any text wrap setting other than default, it won't cross the page boundary. Also, unlike Word or LibreOffice Writer, Pages does not split table row content across that page boundary.
