Unable to activate iPhone 7 IOS 15.8

Attempting to download and activate with 15.8.2 and I receive an error "an update is required to use cellular data on your phone". None of the perviously published remedies provided in this Support Community string have proven helpful. I have tried reseating the SIM chip, using another working chip, resetting the phone network, resetting the phone completely, factory resetting the phone. The only solution I have not attempted yet is jail breaking the phone which seems to all over YouTube as THE solution. Can anyone help? Apple? anyone?? Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

You are describing a known issue that affected certain models of iPhone 7’s which Apple had offered a repair program for. “iPhone 7 Repair Program for "No Service"”

Unfortunately that program ended around 3 years, so your options are to pay for repairs or buy a new phone.

Thanks for the reply! I saw the replacement program and the fact that I missed the window by a few years. I was hoping someone found a work around.

interesting data point, I have two IPhone 7s with this condition. One developed the affliction several months ago and the other just a week ago. Through much trial and error I was able to update one of the phones to 15.8.2 while the other is stuck in 15.6. Still neither will “activate” such that the carrier recognizes them.
