iPhone 12 Pro Max is taking FOREVER to restart!

I tried opening an app up, but it wouldn't work properly. I noticed that my phone was very hot and some of my app thumbnails were gone as well. Naturally, I decided to restart my phone.

It's been over 30 minutes since trying to restart my phone, and it seems to be stuck on the blacked-out screen with the Apple logo. Every now and again, the apple will disappear for roughly 1-2 seconds and reappear but that's all.

I've tried restarting again with no luck. Please help me.

Hello,

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo (could be as long as 30 seconds)

The timing is a little critical, you may have to try it several times. See this for more detail:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t turn on or is frozen

Good luck.
