Sonoma 14.4 syncing problem between devices

MacMini M2, MacBook Pro M3. both update to 14.4.

I started to have iCloud Drive problem. No sync, can't download file on both. Then the Beach Ball. I have to force quit the finder and often restart. The problem seems worse on one computer, sometime on the other.

Dragging a picture from photo to Desktop (iCloud) give me an error..., if I drop it in Download, it will work but just after restart, because after a while, the finder will froze.

So far, I have Re-install 14.4. then I have log off and the log on iCloud.

so far no major change.

Since yesterday, the MacBook can go longer without problem and I am not sure if it is related to iCloud.

anyone else has problem with Sonoma 14.4.

I am a normal user, not a representative of Apple or trying to defend Apple. I am running Sonoma 14.4.1 on an M1 iMac and it is working fine at present. The above is a list of things I check when I am having a syncing issue. My most recent problem was a corrupted file trying to upload, which was interfering with the syncing process and causing Finder to hang. Once I removed the file, normal syncing was restored. It wasn't a bug in the system.

how do you find the corrupted files ? I guess with terminal, but I dont know how. It would be very helping, because it was probably my problem. When I call Apple they told me that a corrupted files was probably the cause, and propose to create a new user and delete the old one, I did and it worked (in fact I did a clean install). But I remember, in another problem, clicking on the icon next to iCloud Drive and seeing an upload being stuck there for days and did not know how to find it. my Nephew who is using iCloud Drive for his work, also had this problem, and it is hard to go through all recently added files one by one to find the problem. sometime, looking at the cloud status icon in a list in a finder window can help but I think that most of them are stuck because just one is stuck, and the daemon dont seem to skip it to do the rest of the list.

If syncing suddenly stops working properly then it is likely to be a file that has recently been created or transferred to iCloud Drive. Look for the upload symbol next to files in iCloud Drive and identify the most recent ones. Try copying these to a local folder on your Mac and then reopening them. Should indicate if they have a problem. Files I have had a problem with are unusual file types, images, large files and archive.zip files, so not always corrupted ones. Patience and trial and error. Sometimes I get an instinct for the problem file, but nothing scientific to it. I hope this helps.

A few further thoughts:

Once you've identified the problematic file, move it out of the iCloud Drive folder, then move it back in. This can trigger the sync process to restart and complete the upload.

Create a new file in the problem folder: Another trick is to create a new file in the folder that is having issues uploading. This can sometimes kickstart the sync process.

Check for special characters in the file name: Files with special characters in the name can sometimes get stuck during the upload process. Try renaming the file and moving it back into iCloud Drive.
