How to upload mp3 audiobooks from Windows PC to iPhone using supported Apple tools?

I used to upload mp3 audio books into my iPhone using iTunes v12.13.1.3 installed from Microsoft Store, running on Windows 10 PC. I used to add mp3 file to the iTunes library, change it to Audiobook, update some metadata, and then sync it to the iPhone. This process recently stopped working. When I connect iPhone to PC, it shows up in Windows Explorer, but not in iTunes. This problem is likely related to a Windows update as there have been no other changes to my PC.

I understand that iTunes is deprecated and is no longer supported. Its replacement Apple Devices does not handle mp3 audio books. Does Apple provide any Windows tool for uploading mp3 audio books to iPhone?

iPhone 11, iOS 17

I would like to clarify. I was trying to upload mp3 audio books for listening them in the Apple Books app.

Anyway, farewell to iTunes, I decided to add the app called MP3 Audiobook Player. In theory it would be possible to open Apple Devices app in Windows and push files into MP3 Audiobook Player. Alas, the Apple Devices app simply froze midway, and killing the task wouldn't make any difference (I didn't bother restarting Windows PC).

I ended up opening WebDav in the MP3 Audiobook Player on iPhone and then used Windows Explorer to copy mp3 files to MP3 Audiobook Player.

Problem solved.
