How do I turn off finger print protection

How do I turn off finger print protection, when I try to turn it off, stolen device protection says I must use finger print. But that's not working

iPhone SE, iOS 17

Go to Settings, then tap Face ID & Passcode.
Enter your device passcode.
Tap Stolen Device Protection, then turn Stolen Device Protection off.

I found Face ID, but it says Stolen Device Protection, must use a finger print to get in.

Its a catch 22

May have to visit Apple store

My iphone SE is running ios 17.4

In settings it doesn't have Face Id protection

any other idea's?

I'm a woodworker which scatches my finger print all the time, recently I turned on Stolen Device Protection and now it says I need a finger print. Sorry

It should be in Touch ID & Passcode then.

I wish that would work, but it always goes back to finger print, which doesn't work for me anymore.

You've been terrific but I need to visit the apple store tomorrow.
