Even though the USB port has been replaced, there are a couple of other things that could be causing CarPlay to drop in your 2018 Genesis:
- Faulty USB Cable: While you've tried high-end cables, it's still possible there could be an issue with the cable itself. Try a different cable, if possible, to rule it out completely.
- Software Issue: There could be a software glitch with the car's infotainment system.
- Make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version. Check for updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
- See if there are any updates available for your Genesis infotainment system. You can usually check for updates through the system settings menu or by consulting your Genesis dealer.
- Compatibility Issue: There could be a compatibility issue between your iPhone 13 Pro Max and the software in your 2018 Genesis. While Apple CarPlay should work fine with most iPhones. You can check with Genesis to see if there have been any reported compatibility issues with iPhone 13 Pro Maxes.
Here are some additional things you can try:
- Forget This Device: Try forgetting your iPhone in your car's CarPlay settings and then re-pairing it. This can sometimes help to clear up any connection issues.
- Reset Network Settings: Resetting your iPhone's network settings can also sometimes help to resolve CarPlay connection problems. Keep in mind this will also reset your Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth connections, so make sure you have those handy before proceeding. You can reset network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If you've tried all of these troubleshooting steps and CarPlay is still dropping, then it's possible there could be a hardware issue with your Genesis infotainment system. In that case, you would want to take your car back to the dealership and have them diagnose the problem.
