Can we create a shortcut/automation based whether Silent mode is on or off

Hi All. I am using iPhone 12 running on 17.3.1. I often put my iphone on silent mode by sliding the physical button on the side panel whenever I do prayer or meeting. But most of the time i forget to revert it back. I am aware about the red indication on the sliding button which indicate whether silent mode is on or off. Since it is on side, It doesn’t grab the attention. This way I miss many phone calls as they ring silently.

so I am looking for some shortcut or automation which will help me to identify the silent mode.

lets say change wallpaper to a specific image(containing DNS text or photo ) whenever I turn on Silent mode through slider button. By looking into wallpaper i can easily understand that phone will not ring loud. Can we do this somehow? I tried creating shortcut using “Device volume” but it is looking at the media volume not the ringtone volume. Please help

iPhone 12, iOS 17

There is a better option to achieve what you are looking for. You can use the FOCUS mode feature. You can setup the DO NOT DISTURB focus mode from the Settings app. You can even setup a custom background when you are in the Do Not Disturb Focus mode. You can then turn this focus mode ON manually and the turn it OFF manually. The background will change accordingly.

You need to adjust the People section in Settings ➡️ Focus ➡️ Do Not Disturb ➡️ People ➡️ Allow Notifications From: Leave the Add People section blank if you do not want any phone calls to ring. Also set, Allow Calls From: Allowed People Only (If you left the above blank, then none of the phone calls will ring). Allow Repeated Calls: Leave this OFF.

its working partially the right way we expected. But what happened is that when someone not in “allowed people” list (lets say an unknown number) tries to contact me while I am on Do Not Disturb focus mode, then the call immediately get hanged without even ringing and they hear a response “customer is busy”(same as disconnecting a call). Caller will believe that I disconnect the call every time they try. In fact my DND mode does the action which we didn’t intended to do.

Anyway using the above method, i can now change wallpaper directly using a shortcut icon on home screen and wise vera.

any other thoughts?
