Watch Ultra 2 GPS loses accuracy when starting from paused

When using the workout app, the GPS seems to not register for a couple of seconds when starting from a pauses. For example, if stopped at traffic and restarting, the timer will restart but the GPS will not track for a couple of seconds. This is obvious because my average pace according to the watch will drop a couple of seconds. Over a run this also cuts into to the distance significantly. I know this is tied to pausing and restarting also because the measurements will not be significantly different compared to a Garmin if I never need to pause the workout. But If I am running through a lot of intersections there is a lot of drift compared to known distances.

Is this designed into the watch? Is it a misconfiguration on my end? Or is my watch a dud?
