How can I use photos for wallpaper on my iMac?

When I go to system settings - wallpaper I have "All Photos" "Favorites", "Pictures" categories with over 250 photos that I thought I added from my Photos BUT none of them will load as wallpaper - what did I do wrong or need to do to correct the situation?

Thanks in advance,

Bob

That does not mean that your Mac is running the most recent system version. The current system version is MacOS 14 Sonoma. Is your Mac model on the list of supported models? How to upgrade to macOS Sonoma - Apple Support

On Ventura try two things: Customize the desktop picture on your Mac - Apple Support

  • Drag a photo from a folder in the FInder(not from Photos) onto the Desktop thumbnail in the System Settings.
  • Or try the Share button in Photos to set a selected photo as a Wallpaper.

Tip: You can drag an image from your desktop or a folder onto the thumbnail at the top of Wallpaper settings to use the image as your desktop picture.

To quickly use a photo you have in the Photos app, open Photos, select the photo, click the Share button  in the Photos toolbar, then choose Set Wallpaper.

Adding a photo as a wall paper is now requiring two steps.

First, click "Add photo" and select photo from your Photos Library to add it to the list of "your Photos". Once it is appearing there, you can click it to make it the currently selected wallpaper. it will then appear as an icon as the selected wallpaper.

In what way is it not working for you? Can you not add a selected photo from Photos to "Your Photos"? Or can you not make a photo from "Your Photos" the current wallpaper? Or are all your photos causing the error message "Extension process exited" over and over again?

I am frequently seeing this error message, when I am using one of my own photos as a wall paper, but I am still seeing my own photos as a wall paper nevertheless.

Click "Add Photo from where? Don't see that on the Wallpaper page in Settings (Add Folder, Add Photo Album but no Add Photo).

In Photos, again can't find anything say Add Photo, Add to, Add to "Imports" but no Add Photo.

What is "Your Photos", can't find that in Photos or Wallpaper?

Have never seen "Extension process exited" in any attempt to add a photo from Photo to the Wallpaper section in settings.

At some point I successfully transferred the desired photos from Photos to the Wallpaper section because they all show up under All Photos, Favorites Albums, and Utah but none of them will show up as an actual wallpaper when I click on them. The "Built-in Display" at the top of the Wallpaper section goes to black - no pix, no nothing
