iPhone 11 pro max has just stopped sharing photos with my PC?

Normally, when I connect my phone to my PC it says " Allow this device to access photos and videos?". once this is allowed, I am able to access my phone's photos via the "This PC" icon on my desktop. My iPhone is shown as a connected device and I can open it to access my DCIM folder and the photos stored in it. Today this has stopped happening. The "This PC" -> "Apple iPhone" -> "Internal Storage " does not now show my DCIM folder ?? A work-around is to send all the photos to myself via WhatsApp ( at max 30 per time ) but this is slow. Does anyone know if this is an Apple issue or a Microsoft issue ? Or know of a fix !

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 12

Update ! I've now raised with Apple and have a solution but a fix will have to come from the developers. The problem seems to be with the server accepting your " Allow this device to access photos and videos?" confirmation. To resolve it ( for now ! ) you need to perform a Reset as follows :-

( copied from my chat with support )

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
  • Reset All Settings: All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults.
  • You should lose no personal data. The fix has worked for me and DCIM is now accessable on my PC. Note, this does re-set a lot of your Apps and you will have to re-do some set up work. I've just had to re-enter most of my passwords and log-ins for lots of my Apps. Your Wallet will be empty too ! Treat with caution !
