iPhone 8 will not charge.
Forgive me as I know this issue has done the rounds a few times. My son's (therefore read 'heavy usage') iPhone 8 will no longer charge. When plugged in the charging battery shows red for a few seconds then goes off.
I've cleaned the charging port, used a variety of cables and have also attempted a hard restore a few times.
During the restore my iMac sees the phone, downloads the software, tries to do the restore but then an "unknown error 4045" message pops up to say it can not be done. Unfortunately I don't know what os the phone is running.
My question is this; is this an indication that the battery is knackered! If so I'll have it replaced. If it could be more than this then it may not be economic to have it repaired.
Thanks for listening (or reading to be more accurate).
