How do I 100% know my airpods are real

I recently bought Airpods gen 3 however with all the forum posts about airpods not being real I was not certain if mine are real. They do have a popup on apple devices, the serial number is real but I read that fakes could also have these features, how would I be 100% certain?

The companies that are involved with counterfeit AirPods also includes serial numbers that are faked as well. This is easier for them to do than faking the actual device. Using any link to verify the serial number or AppleCare coverage is not a solution that will determine that your AirPods are 100% real.

If you are interested in genuine AirPods, then there is only one thing you can do and that is to purchase from Apple or Authorized Apple Seller. Since the counterfeit AirPod market is so big, purchasing from any other site is likely only to get you counterfeit AirPods. Apple does not sell them wholesale to other outlets, so they would have to purchase from Apple, then sell to you, leaving them with little or no profit.

If you have purchased counterfeit AirPods, you may experience these issues:

  • Poor audio quality
  • Poor noise cancellation or none at all
  • Limited or no AppleCare coverage
  • Find My may not work
  • Problems maintaining Bluetooth connection
  • Limited use time after full battery charge
