Today I downloaded a few apps on my laptop to view DICOM files. After downloading and using Planmeca Romexis, these two Java icons (see picture) appeared on the dock.
I deleted the app, but I can't seem to get rid of the Java icons. When I right-click > quit on either of these, nothing happens. Also, I can't find any Java files in Finder, nor can I open these.
I can't shut down my laptop because these are still open. Please help!

Icons are removed from the dock by dragging them to the Trash.
If you click and hold, then do you not see Options->Remove from Dock? Or Options->Keep in Dock, with a checkmark that you can uncheck?
I just noticed those black dots below the icons.
These suggest that they point to some application that is currently running... in which case the icons will not disappear until the app is quit.
Thank you for your answer, Luis. Both of the options you mentioned appeared when I right-clicked the labels, but nothing happened when I clicked on any of them.
However, I managed to resolve the issue through the Activity Monitor. I've detailed the steps I took in another comment on this thread.
Of course, I've tried this, doesn't work.
Sometimes just restarting the computer makes things right. Have you tried that?
