Can I Airplay to an Apple TV Without Wifi

The devices don't have to be connected to the internet but they do need to be connected to the same WiFi network.

I know it used to be possible to create an ad hoc network using a Mac but it's been at least a decade since I've done that.

Thank you for the correction. I haven't connected a computer to an ethernet cable in at least a decade and I tend to forget about it.

Ethernet connects noticeably faster when rebooting the router. 2G is next, 5G is slowest.

I dare say Ethernet latency i.e. page loading is noticeably better on Safari too - and that’s comparing 1 Gbps wired to wifi 1.3. So, I use it on my Apple TV and iMac which are both in the same room.

I have an MBA which migrates around the house as necessary. The router is in my office upstairs and the ATV is in the living room downstairs. So, WiFi it is for me!
