Using old Epson R2880 printer with new macbook Air

Using the Apple adaptor to connect the Air (M2, 2022) to the printer shows a connection is made. But the printer then doesn't print.

(I've successfully used the adaptor to connect to an external hard drive and to an external DVD drive.)

My 'old' Macbook Pro still works fine with the printer.

I'd be grateful for any ideas please 😊

MacBook Air, macOS 14.2

Have you installed the driver for this printer? Here is the link to download it -> https://epson.com/Support/Printers/Single-Function-Inkjet-Printers/Epson-Stylus-Series/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R2880/s/SPT_C11CA16201 Under "Please choose an OS" be sure to choose the version of macOS that is on your MBAir.

Also, what "adapter" are you using? It's a USB printer, no adapter should be needed; just the right USB cable.

You are welcome. Glad it worked out.

For the future, keep in mind that Migrating to a new Mac brings over all the old stuff from the old Mac including old driver(s) that may not be compatible with the version of macOS that is on the new Mac. IMO it's best to always install new (up to date) drivers for things like printers, scanners and other peripherals that require drivers.
