M3 Pro 14" WIFI connection with hide SSID

I recently got a MacBook Pro 14" M3 Pro, which came with Sonoma 14.4.

However, I've been experiencing an issue with the WiFi connection. The problem occurs when I'm out connected to public WiFi, and then close my laptop (put it to sleep). Upon returning home and reopening my laptop, it should automatically reconnect to my home WiFi network. However, my M3 Pro doesn't automatically connect. Instead, I have to manually enter the WiFi SSID and password every single time. Interestingly, when I shut down or reboot the laptop, the WiFi automatically reconnects as expected. This issue not occur when sleep and wake at home.

I'm using a TP-Link AX5300 router (WiFi 6) with a hidden SSID. [Here's the link to the router: https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-ax5300/]

I can confirm that my two MacBook Pro 16" M1 Pro machines don't experience this issue; they reconnect automatically without any problems.

I suspect this might be a bug, but I don't have concrete evidence to report it to Apple or discuss it with the Apple Genius Bar.

As for temporary solutions, I could enable my WiFi SSID to be visible, but I prefer not to expose it to my neighbors.

Here's what I've already tried:

  • Resetting the router to factory settings
  • Performing a clean install of 14.4 on my M3 Pro. I haven't attempted to downgrade to a version below 14.4 yet, as I'm concerned it might fail since the laptop came with 14.4 pre-installed.

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Or does anyone know how to access logs or gather evidence to support this issue? Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hiding your SSID does almost nothing to protect you from anything.

Advanced hackers can still determine what is needed to attack you (if that is what they really want) from what IS being broadcast, and hiding your SSID just makes YOUR life more difficult, for no benefit.

if you are a national-level Activist, to otherwise 'have a target on your back', pull more Ethernet cables or cable-TV cables and shut off the Wi-Fi altogether.

Otherwise, just be sure you are using the most advanced WiFi protection possible, like WPA-3 personal if your Macs can do it, and go about your business.
