Unable to remove a device from Apple ID because of an error

I am having the same issue. “iPhone could not be removed because of an error.” I logged my mom’s Apple ID in to see if this was the issue but I had no problems removing this device from her account. I have already factory reset the phone a few times. Any ideas?

I was mostly just worried about privacy issues so I removed the SD card and fully erased the old phone. Fixed the original problem of cellular connection, but haven't figured out how to remove it from my icloud account.

I’m having the same issue and Apple Support hasn’t been much help via the support app. I’m curious if it has to do with leaving the cellular plan connected when un pairing ? I was able to remove the device from Find My, and going to the AppleId website and deleting there does the same error pretty much, error 500 vs because of an error.

Correct. I cannot remove a device from my own Apple ID but then I went and tested it by adding another Apple ID to the same device. I was then able to remove that device on the other Apple ID. This leads me to believe that it is an Apple ID specific issue and not tied to the device we are trying to remove. Probably a bug that hopefully gets fixed soon.

I’m having the same issue when trying to remove an iPad from my devices. I’m getting the same message. I’m worried because I have to return it in the morning.

Same issue here, im unable to remove a Philips TV device from the list, i have no idea whos TV this is and when it connected, there in no info no history, .. just want to remove it

Can you explain a bit more? I’ve never added another Apple ID before, so adding your mom’s ID to your device you were able to remove the device you couldn’t with your ID?

This is ridiculous. I too cannot remove my devices due to an error. Apple you need to fix this. I have two devices I need to remove now. I tried removing them from my iPhone settings then online from iCloud.com. Then I re imaged my MSI (the pc I am trying to remove from apple account) to no avail. Why is this not being fixed? Signing out of the devices themselves does not work.

I have this same exact problem, and I'm worried because I have to trade in my phone and it's still showing my phone number
