Not able to use the headphone/audio out jack on Mac mini

I have a Mac mini and the separate studio screen. My digital interface that runs all my sound (I work with Logic Pro a lot) is in the repair shop so I was expecting to be able to listen through my headphones connected to the small headphone jack on the back of the Mac mini. There is no option in the sound menu to use the audio line out. The only options are Mac mini speakers or the studio display speakers which I can live with until my interface is repaired. But what is going on here with the line out and absence of option for this in the sound preferences?

Yes, how embarrassing. I’m just stressed right now and I have too much going on. It was simply not pressed in properly! I was thrown that it didn’t show as an option in the sound preferences but find that it won’t show there until it’s plugged in which I do think is a little odd being that it is a built-in option for the Mac mini, but nonetheless, it’s functioning. Thanks,

James
