Apple TV box model A1469

Does anyone know which models are not obsolete for mirroring my iPad to my tv as I cannot sign in to my iCloud as my Apple TV box is apparently obsolete and it does not accept Two-factor authentication or does anyone know how it can be done any other way - shame to throw it away

… mirroring my iPad to my tv [through Apple TV box]

Several services require an AirPlay 2-supporting receiving device, which the 3rd generation model is not.

So it depends on what you want to mirror.

AirPlay does not require signing in for iCould services. It does require registering with a valid Apple ID and being signed in for the iTunes Store with that Apple ID account.

and it does not accept Two-factor authentication

There is a workaround for that:

If you have an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) and two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, then you may be asked to type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field. Additionally, there is a time limit, after which the code becomes invalid.

Try this: First enter the characters of your password (do not submit yet), then manually request a new verification code, then append that code to the password (no spaces or other separating characters), and then submit. That should help you get passed the time limit.

OP said “shame to throw it away”, so on that I reacted to what is still possible. To me personally, replacing would be the way to go for that model. If OP wanted advise on an upgrade that is much more advanced, and supports much more services, then the current model is the answer — no hesitation there. However, I am reluctant to tell others how they should spend their money. I’d assume that they’re very capable of making that decision themselves.

OP’s not concerned about cost (which anyway is trivial), only shame. Furthermore, your “workaround” is all work plus head-scratching round and round i.e. a complete waste of time.

In other words, an impossible option. Your intentions are not at question, but IMO they’re getting in the way of actually helping. Rest assured, you’re not the only one mixing the two up 😁…have a good one!
