MacBook Pro Screen Display with bright strip

My MacBook screen has about a two inch vertical strip running from the top to the bottom which is noticeably off colour from the rest of the screen (brighter, and more yellow). the strip seems to be about 1/6 the width of the screen. if you imagine the screen cut into 6 vertical strips, then from going from the left it would be the 5th strip.

before the strip appeared the computer wasn't dropped or over heating.

Non the less— vertical lines/artifacts are almost always a hardware fault in the display itself.
