2-inch light blue strip on MacBook Pro screen

My 16" Apple M1 MacBook Pro 2021 is now showing a light blue half transparent 2 inches wide vertical strip across the screen. Is this a common issue and how does one it?

you have a hardware issue

Vertical artifacts like yours are almost always a problem with the display itself. Not GPU / screen buffer / or display-generator

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"

As a work-a-round you can plug in an external display/monitor and compare your results. The feed comes from the GPU directly to your external display
