Deauthorize computers

My imac says "One machine is authorized to play content purchased with this account." But it's not this machine.

When I try to authorize it says "You cannot authorize more than 5 computers. You have already authorized 5 computers with this Apple ID. To authorize this computer you must first deauthouize one of the other computers."

Account information page does not have Deauthorize All button.

I no longer have other computers, so do not have access to them.

Help.

Sorry. Wasn't trying to be a jerk. Annoyed with Apple, not you.

Account Authorization options weren't greyed out. When I selected "Authorize this computer," it said that all 5 authorizations were used up. When I selected "Deauthorize," it said I hadn't yet authorized this computer, so that wasn't relevant.

Third, I just meant that you were implying I hadn't done the sorta baseline research to try and fix the problem myself. I was encouraging you to see that I wasn't the only person having this issue, just in case you thought it was primarily due to a mistake I was making. Not trying to teach the Googles. :)

Finally, indeed I called Apple as people recommended in other threads. After a bit of "Wow, this is really weird what's going on?" on the part of the support person, they deauthorized the other computers remotely.

Very strange indeed, and annoying there's no self-administered fix. Thanks for trying to help, and apologies if I came off brusque.

I'm having this exact same problem. When I try to authorize my computer, it says I've hit my limit: "You cannot authorize more than 5 computers."

But when I go to either iTunes OR Apple TV as per those instructions, there's no option next to Computer Authorizations, just a note saying "One machine is authorized to play content purchased with this account."

Help!

No worries...apology accepted. 😄

I suspect that if I frequented the Apple Music section, I may have seen similar questions such as yours, but since I only rarely go there this was the first I'd heard of this issue.

If I'd gone to the Apple Music section, I may have seen this: Unable to deauthorize devices on Apple Mu… - Apple Community

It did appear that one person posted something that worked for them in this forum.

Glad to hear you've resolved the issue...at least, for now.

In the link I provided, did you review the section titled "See How Many Computers Are Authorized"? Does it list all authorized computers?

No. As I said. It does not give any options or info there other than the phrase "One machine is authorized to play content purchased with this account."

this is a known issue—has been for about 6-8 weeks. The only fix is to call Apple and have them remotely deauthorize old computers.

I’d encourage you to google the phrase "One machine is authorized to play content purchased with this account”. Tons of folks having same issue as me.

come on Apple.

First off, we are not Apple employees here, nor do we have "direct lines" to Apple.

Second...from the Music app, when you go to Account--->Authorizations, are both the Authorize This Computer and Deauthorize This Computer grayed out?

Third...thank you for the instructions on how to use Google.

Since you've already determined "...the only fix is to call Apple...", have you done that? What did they say?
