Freezing issue on iPhone after iOS 17.4.1 update

After the 17.4.1 update you may experience some issue touching your display. The reason this has happened is because your device believes it is in DFU mode. You would need to hook your device up to a Mac computer and restore the device to factory to get your display to work again.

Hundreds of people conplaining and Apple doesn’t give a f - ck, nice. This will be the first and last iPhone I’ll own. I have an important event tomorrow and I won’t be able to take pictures because the camera of my 1000$ and 6 month old iPhone is freezing

I tried this too, and was very excited when it seemed to work. Until it didn't work! Within about 5 minutes my messages app started freezing again. I've done the up, down, side button trick (waiting until the Apple logo appears before releasing the side button, as instructed) about half a dozen times since finding out about it yesterday, and no success aside from a momentary unfreeze. My Google search app started freezing today in addition to Messages app. It is very difficult to send or respond to a message currently.

Had the same issue for quite some time now. I tried to reset the network settings: Settings>General>Transfer or reset iPhone>Reset>Reset network settings. Now every app works without freezing and the lagging issues I had have also disappeared. Hope this helps someone:)

I also experience this issue on my iPhone 12 after updating to iOS 17.4.1.

My iPhone often freez/crash/auto-restart suddenly and the face ID sometimes not work properly so i need to reset my iPhone almost everyday :(

Having same issue after updating to 17.4.1. I have iPhone 14 Pro Max and this also happens to my mother’s iPhone also 14 Pro Max after the update to 17.4.1. Phone completely froze and only hard reset restores the phone.. works fine for 24 hours then freeze at random app and need hard reset again… nice one Apple

also I noticed iCloud have issues with sync photos means I can’t download originals. It works after hard reset and also breaks after 24h. Could be related to this?

Same here, iPad 9th gen. 17.4.1 applied, but constantly freezing, especially if I use the files folder to read a simple PDF. That’s pretty annoying during a study. It seems to me quite general problem accross all Apple platforms, not a user, app or file specific problem.

Same problem with SE (2020) - Tried update via Apple Devices App - failed with errors, tried restore via Apple Devices App - failed with error. Used recover mode to do a restore (multiple tries before it worked). Finally working again but phone still freezes (touch screen) randomly. Mostly the IMessage back button fails to respond but total phone locks up occur also. Cleaning memory helps for a while but eventually it freezes again. My guess is its some sort of memory issue.

Have you tried and force restart your iPhone? Force restarting can help you solve these kind of issues

Yes, that’s what I meant by hard reboot- even FaceTime freezes or cam doesn’t load- what a mess!!!!

What Siri told you to do is the procedure to close apps on your iPhone. Doesn't make you stupid or old. Perhaps just not familiar with how it works?

I have swiped up halfway, then the app disappears and I have to do the entire process over again. I only had to swipe up on the open screen with my old 11.

Swipe up and then remove your finger from your phone. Then find the app you want to close and swipe it up to fully close it.
