I am unable to open Sony ARW file through Preview on MacBook with macOS Ventura.

how can i see ARW files of Sony A7R5 with apple preview?

Hold down the Option Key, go to the  menu and select "System Information". In the window that comes up click on RAW Support near the bottom of the sidebar. Then look for your Sony camera model. If it's not listed then the system doesn't support that RAW format as yet.


If that's the case until Apple adds support for that format you'll have to convert the image files to .dng format with Adobe's DNG Converter which the system will support.

Well, Apple does not list footnotes about the A7RM5 in the Ventura camera RAW support.


I have downloaded an ILCE-7RM5 raw and jpg image from DP Review. On macOS Ventura 13.6.5, the RAW ARW file does not show its image as a Finder icon, but Quick Look (and Preview) both display the image. On macOS Sonoma 14.4, that A7RM5 RAW image is shown as a Finder icon too, so apparently Apple realized the issue and fixed it.
