How can I download my iCloud photos to my iPhone Photos app directly in chronological order?

Half of my photos were automatically deleted after my iPhone was updated to iOS 17.4, and I found out that they are all stored in iCloud for some reason. So, I want to download them back. However, the only way I could find to do that is to go to the iCloud website→select 1000 photos per time→download them as a zip file to the Files app→unzip them→download them to Photos. This process is very inconvenient, and all my downloaded photos are not in chronological order in the Photos app. How can I download all my iCloud photos to my Photos app on iPhone without downloading them as zip files? Please help me because I really need those photos in the correct date order on my iPhone. I will be appreciated for any answers and solutions.

Edit: my iPhone model is 11 Pro max. Not 6 Plus.

If you are 100% certain that

  1. iCloud photos is turned off currently in that device.
  2. You are sure all of your photos are in iCloud in the correct order

then

  • Backup the phone (safety only)
  • Delete all those photos you zipped into photos app
  • Turn on iCloud Photos so it repopulates to the phone
  • Do this at your own risk after reading up on it further.

Why am I concerned?

You said "half my photos were missing" which is weird. If that is because Cloud Photos got turned off and they were still clearing - it can take a day - then we are ok.
