when do iPhone photos get uploaded to iCloud?

I very much like that my iPhone photos get uploaded to iCloud. I can poll those photos in iCloud from my desktop, and there I can archive them, process them, and put them in documents. Except, sometimes I can't find them there. As in, I take pictures,and several minutes later I go to iCloud,and they aren't there. They're right there in my camera, but not in iCloud.

So, what is the schedule for uploading to iCloud? Is this a once every ten minutes deal, and I just have to wait? Or, how do I COMMAND upload of photos to iCloud? As in, darn it, RIGHT NOW!
