Scanning documents in Notes

When I scan a single page document with Notes, it scans the page, but it creates another empty page as a “text” file. When I then want to save the scan somewhere else, I am unable to rename there and then as the file name is shown as a greyed out file name of “two items”” at the time. I have to rename afterwards which is just a long workaround.

Notes App not scanning as pdf I have just scanned a few documents using the Notes App but I have experienced 2 issues that I haven't been able to find an answer to. In the Notes App I have created a new Note, selected the camera, selected scan document and on all occasions the files have been saved as .jpegs instead of .pdfs. I want any scanned documents to be saved as a pdf - otherwise I would just take a photo if I wanted files saved as .jpeg. The other issue I'm finding confusing is how to save multiple pages as one .pdf. When I used the above procedure for a 2-page document and allowed the 2nd page to be scanned automatically, I expected it to be saved as a single 2-page .pdf file but it didn't - it saved as 2x separate .jpeg files. So, if someone could please tell me how to save scanned documents as .pdf by default and how to save multiple page documents as a single .pdf, I would appreciate it. Thank you

changes to notes app behaviour with change to Sonoma (from Catalina) macOS Sonoma has changed the way scanned (notes app, > new note > camera icon > Scan Documents) objects presented are handled. Previously when accessing a scan done on iPhone, using the MacDesktop notes app, one could use <right clicK. and <shows scans>, or drag the object in notes app to the desktop (or elsewhere). This functionality has disappeared or is hidden somewhere. Now the only object type available seems to be .pdf, and one cannot get at the contents (text content) of the pdf as was previously available by selecting the text in the .jpg object that was available in the notes app. Previously one could select to use .jpg, .pdf. or even plain text i think. Anyway, our workflow has been broken and we are a bit shitty about that. Who knows, the new arrangement may be far superior, but we just cannot see it.

Notes Scan adds Frame - Files app as alternative not efficient Hi All, There was a thread already open for this and the usage of Files app was the solution for OP, however what was not addressed there is that Notes vs Files has different file conversions. Same scan done in Notes has a much smaller size than done in Files app, but due the fact that in Notes when you save the scan to files its adding a frame its problematic. I saw many marked as “me too” in the other thread, did anyone found a solution to the boarded issue ?
