Adding ⌘-symbol in my text on my Mac Studio with macOS Sonoma

obviously, I managed to do exactly what I asked in the title, but let me explain what I want:

A long time ago the ⌘-symbol was embedded in the keyboard (a remainder of Steve I guess)

I have never looked for it again, until recent. If I remember well it was standard under the keyboard-layout …

Now, I am exploring Sonoma … but it is nowhere to be found.

I tried adding it to text replacement in the panel for creating / replacing text, I can register it, but it does not work.

so … any ideas? 🙂

I just did and it works fine.

Go to this webpage:

Mac keyboard shortcuts - Apple Support

See the section "Using Keyboard Shortcuts"

Copy the Command symbol ⌘

Then go to System Settings > Keyboard > Text Replacements

I created "Replace" = mycmd

"With" = ⌘

Click Done.

The Text replacement didn't seem to work here in this community but it appears to work everywhere else that accepts text.

I've searched for a keyboard shortcut to create it, but was unable to find it.

However, I was able to get it to work here by using the app called Typinator to replace mycmd with ⌘

I was able to create a text replacement named "cmd" to get ⌘ (macOS Sonoma 14.4.) Maybe try another name.

Otherwise, use the Character Viewer (control + command + space) and search for "place of interest". It will return ⌘. Using it often enough will place the character in the Frequently Used list so you won't have to search for it.
