Remote Desktop Options for Mac users

We are currently using Parallels remote desktop but it's not very reliable and it is very sluggish. Is there an alternative like the one that Windows users have called Remote Desktop? By the way, I am not just trying to open or use files on my remote machine but I am trying to perform activities like openning and using programs remotely.

If you are trying to connect a Mac to a Windows system, then Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection app does exist for the Mac

If this is Mac to Mac, and both are on the same network, such as at home or in the same company, then macOS Screen Sharing should work.

Finder -> Go (menu) -> Connect to server -> vnc://ip-address.or.domain.name.of.other.Mac

The other Mac will need to have Enabled Screen Sharing via System Settings.
