Can you please help, If I delete files, photos etc from icloud storage online connecting from other device, will these files, photos etc also be deleted from my MacBook laptop desktop too, freeing up the memory on my laptop?
Yes. Any file that you sync with iCloud can be deleted from any connected device or at iCloud.com. Once done, that change will sync across devices. If you delete a file on any device, it deletes everywhere. If you permanently delete a file on any device, it is permanently deleted everywhere. If you add a file, it is added everywhere.
