Battery replacement for the MacBook Pro 2017

Hi All,

i used to have another id as ciaochiao but forgot that password so here i am as this id. Anyway, i take it that the op didnt post his battery data because i don’t see it here. The reason i ask is that urrentlyI’m in a hospital and one of my roommies has a 2017 MacBook Pro whose battery keeps overheating. I know that Apple sometimes replaces entire units as they did for my son’s model, although he never took them up on it (don’t ask me why-I only gave birth to him. He’s got half his fathers ‘stupid’ genes that even he admits to, not that I’m that smart but not as dumb as his dad…) Anyway, I was wondering if Apple had a replacement for the MacBook Pro 2017 whose battery was swelling all the time? Or what was the solution? I don’t have a MB Pro right now. I’ll get one when I get out of this infernal hospital but until then, my iPad Air gen 5 does everything I need it to. So I’m not in a rush yet but when I’m ready, I’ll research the differences between the MacBook Air and pro to see which will suit my needs. In the meantime, I looking to see if anything was done for the 2017 MBP with the exploding battery? Thanks in advance for any answers.

In the US, Apple will replace a swollen battery in your MacBook Pro 2017 model for US$250, complete, including a modest 90 day warranty on the repair and the new battery.

PROVIDED your Mac appears to be otherwise working, and does not need any additional repairs. Apple does not do partial repairs, so if there are additional problems, they would need to be fixed as well. In that case, the cost would be higher.

The part replaced for a battery issue is the top plate, battery, keyboard, trackpad assembly, complete. No component parts are available.

Batteries are a wear item, like the soles of your shoes, or the tires or brakes on your car. Sooner or later, they need to be replaced. It is not realistic to think that the battery will be replaced for free.
