How do i find out the apple ID on a device? We have reopened since Hurricane Ian, all that is displayed is the first letter of the e-mail address. Once i know the e-mail address I can reactivate the e-mail and reset the password.

If all you see is the first letter, it’s a security precaution and the rest of the email cannot be obtained. Return the iPad to the owner or contact the owner to obtain the full email address.
You will see the first letter and everything after the "@" sign. That should be all you need to identify your Apple ID. Without the proper Apple ID and Password, your only other option is to prove the device is yours by submitting the original purchase receipt from Apple or Authorized Apple seller by using this link.

It sounds like your company setup your devices as consumer devices and didn’t take advantage of Apple Business Manger. Because they were setup as consumer devices they are subject to the restrictions of consumer devices. Did you purchase the devices directly from Apple? Do you have an Apple Small Business account?
I can tell it is our company domain, but not the e-mail. And there are many with the same first letter. Our company was devastated by hurricane Ian, ground zero for landfall. Records like receipts are all gone from 10'-12' of storm surge. Most of the old employees are not returning, having found other employment. I understand Apple is trying to be safe for their consumer market with such a lockdown. I guess this adds fuel to the fire that Apple products are good for the home but not for the business world. We have dozens of expensive iPhones and iPads that are useless paperweights. All our surviving Android products are already repurposed and functioning.
