I haven’t been able to receive my mail so I went into settings to my Mail app and checked my email and every time I try to put the password in it says this.

That’s a correct statement. Microsoft no longer uses passwords for authentication. Go to Settings/Mail/Accounts, tap on the account and delete it. Restart your phone. Then add the account back and it should guide you on how to set it up.
