Send button needs to be pressed twice on imessage to work

I'm on iPhone 15 pro max, and the send button in Message never work the first time I press it to send a message... always have to press it 2-3 times in order for it to register. That area of the screen works perfectly on any other app. Is this normal?

message disappears after hitting Send (and is not sent or received) I have an iPhone 13 that I just updated to 16.5.1 and now, when I paste text into an iMessage and hit Send, the message immediately disappears. I know it is not sent bc the recipient never gets it. So far, it only happens with text copied from a draft email in Apple Mail. It has happened multiple times with different recipients. Other people have asked this very same question on this platform — with hundreds of “I had this problem, too” responses — and no one from Apple has responded. Please let me know if you have a fix!
