Amazon Prime Video will only play in standard definition despite having a 5K studio display

I bought a new Apple Studio 5K display about a year ago, and despite having a nearly new Apple M1 mac mini, and all the correct cables, whenever I buy or rent a video on Amazon Prime it says it will only play in Standard Definition as my setup is not compatible with their 4K output. I don't understand! Why won't films play in high definition on this monitor/setup? Doesn't make sense, surely they should play in the best quality available - can anyone help?

Mac mini, macOS 14.4

Increasingly people are streaming on devices, computers, etc. Still doesn't make sense to me that Amazon's 4k output would not be compatible with a 5k monitor! Surely a lot of people would have the same problem? I wondered if it might be something to do with going trough Chrome or Safari, and therefore needing to use the Amazon Prime app instead? I might try that.

It does seem odd. You could try, though according to the Amazon support article I linked above, it'll be only HD either way:

You could try asking Amazon if you want - Prime Video Help - Amazon Support

It doesn't look like 4K video is compatible with a computer, either using a web browser or the Prime Video app. Looking at this support article from Amazon, it appears a computer can only stream in HD at most. I expect 4K requires a TV.
