2020 (Intel) MacBook Pro Screen Flickering

Screen flickers in bottom third of the screen.

I have tried:

  1. OS update (worked and then came back).
  2. Running maintenance scripts via Cleanmymac (did not work)
  3. NVRAM reset (did not work)
  4. Running Apple diagnostics (no errors)

I would assume hardware failure but for the fact the OS update made it go away but it came back. I also note that when the laptop starts there is no flickering or lines, they only come when at the log on screen.

Had no issues until last night, updated to latest OS, went away then this afternoon came back for no reason, just appeared.

Any help or direction gratefully received.

Full Spec:

13-inch 2020 four thunderbolt 3 ports MacBook Pro

2GHZ Quad-Core Intel Core i5

Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1436MB

16GB RAM

OS Sonoma 14.4.1

<Cleanmymac> I would look for some in-app official uninstaller if available.

if in doubt search the developers website or contact their: Support/Help/FAQ/Known issues/Uninstall

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus/VPN

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

If no resolve—

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
