Change iCloud email

Before I start, please correct me if I'm wrong and there is in fact a solution.

I understand you can add alias emails to icloud, but why aren't you allowed to fully change your email? I hate having too many emails, but do enjoy having a few to stay organized. Many of us if created those emails over a decade ago and it seems crazy that theres still no option (even through apple support) to change it to something we would be happy to use today.

Even if its a once every few years, i see no reason not to allow users to change the icloud email just like other platforms allow you to change usenames or email.
