i tried to log into my icloud so that i can see my icloud photos on my apple tv but each time i log in i receive the message "verification failed- unknown error occurred. OK" therefore i can not see my icloud photos on my apple tv.

Is the system software up-to-date on that device? It lists as tvOS 13 under your post, but the current version is tvOS 17.4.

iCloud services may have become unsupported on the legacy Apple TV (3rd generation) 2012 model. iCloud has changed, but the system software for that model has not changed with it (no longer technically supported).

the system is 4k and it has auto updates on. i ended up completely removing all my user data and set it up again, as if it is new and then logged into icloud and slowly but surely it updated the icloud photos and seems to be working properly. Thank you for you quick response in helping. not sure why it got corrupted in the first place but i am satisfied that it is now working.
