You should be able to remove an extension if you go to Safari > Settings (or Preferences) at the top of the screen, clicking Extensions, finding the extension, and clicking Uninstall.

On an iPad, you would go to Settings > Safari > Extensions, and make sure you do not have any Extensions installed. The puzzle piece shows up in the Safari search bar to allow you to easily manage these Extensions.

Thanks Jim, I missed it's an iPad and not a Mac!
