In Applications folder, right click and "get info" on the new app, do the same with the old version and then just drag over the old icon image from the preview, onto the small icon at the top of the "get info" window for the new version - it will automatically change (you might need to open the new version to get the dock icon to change) 🙂

Create a Shortcut. Works for iPad or iPhone:.
Now you can remove the original Pages app from your Home Screen and use your Shortcut to open the app and the icon will be the one you added. In order to get the original Pages icon, I suggest a simple internet search where you can then save the picture of the icon to your Photos app. Once added to your shortcut in the last step, you can delete the photo.
So you just can't go back properly because Apple has changed that, that's with every app so as soon as they change the app icon it's just the new one and that's just like that but you can create a shortcut then you go to the shortcuts app press the plus also create new shortcut and then on the right side also with me on the iPad on the iPhone it's probably down. Somewhere you will find open app there you press on it. then you go into the command where app is written and there you select pages then you press top left where probably open app 1 says you press it and then on rename and then you can enter pages there. After that you can switch to image and then you can take the picture I gave you here from the photo library.
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help you.

There’s nothing you can do about it. Learn to live with it. An icon is nothing to stress out over.
Correct, I actually like the new one. The previous one used the Flat design that was hated when it first came out, so here we go again. If the look of an icon is the only complaint, then I consider that a win.

I don't care for either one. I don't like orange or red or whatever it is. I made my own icon & I just have to reaply it in Get Info after an update.
I added white space around it because it was so much bigger than the other icons in my Dock. Ignore the pink edge. It doesn't show in the Dock.
Yes, it must have taken quite the team to find a color so viscerally offensive.
So do you mean the new icon or the old one?
The old one the new icon is awful….
