Big Sur is the highest versions supported. See the following from Identify your MacBook Pro model - Apple Support

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)

Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,2, MacBookPro11,3

Part Number: MGXC2xx/A, MGXA2xx/A

Newest compatible operating system: macOS Big Sur

Why do you "need" Monterey? That's not a rhetorical question. There is heavy, heavy pressure from internet social media influencers, internet "security researchers", people pretending to be IT admins, and Apple pushing people to upgrade to the latest version of macOS. All that does is make your computer run more slowly and with more bugs.

Then you get on a never-ending cycle of installing a new upgrade every two weeks to fix the bugs introduced last month or the Critical Security Exploit developed by Evil North Korean hackers. It's all lies.

I just wanted to put that out there first. You probably have an older computer that can't be upgraded past Big Sur. A new Apple Silicon Mac would probably be a good idea. Just don't fall for all of that misinformation.
