Apple Watch automatically entering password without touching screen and locking

I put on my Apple Watch after getting ready and noticed the screen said “wrong password try again in 2 hours”. When that time elapses the passcode keyboard appears and it looks like someone is entering a password (I am not touch the screen) and the time for the next attempt grows. Now I’m up to 7 hours and I can’t get it to power down or accept my code when they keyboard screen appears again.

My watch is doing the same thing. I’m up to 4 hours before it tries again. How do I take off auto enter for the passcode?

I had the same issue on my Apple Watch Ultra 2 today.

My fix was forcing a restart of the watch. You need hold down the Side button and the Digital Crown at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears, and before the lockdown time elapses.

You can check if the screen doesn't receive any input anymore by testing to hold the side button until the power off sliders appear and dragging it smoothly.

I contacted Apple Support and did the following and it worked!

1 Put your watch on its charger and keep it there until you complete these steps.

2 Press and hold the side button until you see the power button in the upper-right corner of the display.

3 Press and hold the Digital Crown until you see Erase all content and settings.

4 Tap Reset, then tap Reset again to confirm.

5 Wait for the process to finish, then https://support.apple.com/kb/HT204505. When asked, restore from a backup.

Similar. I was wearing my watch (it had been unlocked hours before) last night when it started making a high pitch sound and began automatically entering random passcodes very quickly, one after the other. After x number of failed attempts, a message appeared to try again in 1 minute, then 5 minutes, then 15 minutes, etc… The watch wouldn’t respond to any input nor could I power it off. Using my iPhone, I removed the credit cards from the watch app, then decided to erase the watch completely. I contacted Apple Support and they advised to reset the watch and re-pair it to my iPhone. I haven’t done it yet because I’m just not comfortable using the watch again. Trust is broken.
